BIO
Nicolas Martin is a self-taught composer, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and producer.
Originally from Rodez (Aveyron, France), he is now based in Andratx, a small village on the island of Mallorca (Spain).
Renowned for the evocative richness and emotional depth of his music, Martin has become a sought-after collaborator for filmmakers, animators, theatre directors, and visual artists. His compositions feature in a wide range of projects, including award-winning films, celebrated animated shorts, acclaimed series, and major international campaigns. He has worked with distinguished creators such as
Bruno Collet, Barry J.C. Purves, Jérémy Clapin, Marie-Christine Courtès, Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, Icíar Bollaín, Christine Hasne, Vincent Maillard, Elice Meng, Daniel Monzón, Isabel Coixet, and Fernando Colomo.
In 2014, he founded the Miniature Ensemble Orchestra, a versatile chamber orchestra of dedicated musicians who regularly record and perform his works, spanning both orchestral and minimalist repertoires. His acclaimed album Inner String Quartet (Superpitch Records) has achieved international success, with music licensed for numerous trailers, documentaries, and commercials.
His catalog is published by some of the most prestigious international editors, including Universal, Sony, and BMG, and his music can be heard daily on television networks around the world such as the
BBC, France Télévisions, National Geographic ... testifying to its wide-reaching resonance.
His compositions have also attracted major global brands, including
Longines, Chopard, Van Cleef & Arpels, IKEA, Ford, Zeiss, Viktor & Rolf, and Disneyland Paris.
His work has earned significant recognition: in 2016, he received the Grand Prix for Best Original Soundtrack at the Aubagne International Film Festival for D’Ombres et d’Ailes, and has since been honored with several Production Music Awards. In 2020, Bruno Collet’s Mémorable, featuring Martin’s original score, was nominated for the Academy Award (Oscars) for Best Animated Short Film. In 2022, he was named a
full member of SACEM.
